Hello & Welcome to my blog! I'm Cath, and this is my story of becoming an interior designer.
Born in Hong Kong and later educated in the UK, I lived in London and worked in the classical music industry for over a decade. In 2016, my husband got an opportunity to work and relocate to Singapore. Having Southeast Asian heritage, the idea of living in the region has always been at the back of my mind. It was really a no-brainer for us at the time so bags packed, and off we went. This temporary yet conscious escape from the Big Smoke made me contemplate my next step in life and what I'm really passionate about - can you guess what it might be...?
Why interior design? Because I believe a well designed, tastefully curated space has the power to empower, nurture and heal. I enjoy the creativity as much as the science and business behind it. My ambition is to help people to create an inspiring, original and functional home that they can enjoy, relax and thrive in. And in case you're wondering, I'm an INFJ :)
Apart from writing this blog and upping the game in social media, I'm also in the progress of gaining a professional qualification at KLC School of Design. Every now and then I'll be sharing some thoughts and musings of this new journey - probably a rollercoaster ride!
I don't really want to limit myself to a particular style. But leaning towards the world of bold and maximalism, I call myself a devotee of the modern eclectic style - mixing eras, cultures, colours, textures with a modern and contemporary flair. Influenced by theatre and other art forms, I love a bit of whimsical touch just because they always makes life better. Having literally just returned to the UK, I am very excited to be once again in the centre of all things creative and I hope to bring my life adventures in the East to the table.
Whether you are also considering a career change into the world of interiors or simply seeking creative solutions for your home, I hope you'd find something interesting here. I'd love to hear from you as well so please feel free to contact or say hello on the social platforms.
Happy reading and decorating!
